Patient Exam – Dental Checkup

Most people are recommended to visit their dentist for a professional teeth cleaning and check-up at least twice a year. However, some patients may require fewer visits, while others will require more frequent treatment. Your dentist will help you devise a preventative maintenance plan to help ensure your smile is in optimum health at all times.

Patients who smoke, are diabetic, currently have gum disease or are more prone to cavities, are at a higher risk for denal disease, decay and infection may need preventative dentistry treatment every three or four months.

The amount of preventative care and maintenance dentistry can vary throughout your lifetime. Your dentist will help ensure your teeth are strong and healthy and may choose to lengthen or lessen the time between your appointments as necessary. For example, patients with a stressful lifestyle may be more prone to changes in oral health. Also in times of sickness, your teeth and gums may need special attention to prevent plaque buildup and the development of cavities. Your dentist will help your establish a care routine to keep your smile bright throughout the year.
